Shield of Chaos
The defensive weapon that blocks with Bull Rush and throws a bouncing shield, built for players who want a safety net.
The Shield of Chaos is the most defensive of the six weapons and the most forgiving for players who get overwhelmed. It can block, which no other weapon can, and it turns that block into offense with the Bull Rush charge. The special throws the shield as a projectile that bounces between enemies and returns to you. The Shield is slower and chunkier than the other melee options, but it lets you weather hits that would punish a more aggressive weapon, which makes it a strong pick for survival-focused players and high-difficulty runs.
How it plays
The main attack is a solid melee bash, slower than the Blade but with weight behind it. Holding the attack raises the shield to block incoming damage, and releasing fires off the Bull Rush, a charging dash-attack that plows through enemies. The block is the heart of the weapon: you can hold an attack to absorb a hit, then unleash the Bull Rush as a counter. The special throws the shield out, where it bounces between multiple enemies and comes back, giving you ranged area damage. The dash-strike is a quick shield bash that repositions you.
Use the block actively, not passively. Hold the attack to block a telegraphed enemy hit, then release the Bull Rush into them as a counterattack. The Shield rewards reading enemy timing more than spamming.
Aspects
The Shield has four Aspects. The three standard ones level with Titan Blood; the Hidden Aspect of Beowulf must be unlocked through the story.

Boons that pair well
The bouncing special loves anything that triggers on each hit, so Zeus chain lightning and Ares Doom both spread well across multiple bounces. Poseidon’s knockback turns the Bull Rush into a crowd-shover. Because the Shield already handles defense, you can afford to invest a god slot in pure damage rather than survival, though Athena’s Deflect still stacks neatly with a weapon that already blocks. How to start with it
Run the Zagreus Aspect and lean on the block early while you learn enemy timings. Pick one damage source, attack or special, and feed it; the special-bounce route pairs especially well with chain-lightning boons. The Shield’s durability means you can take more risks routing toward damage rooms. Still spend Darkness in the Mirror of Night on a revive and extra dash first.
