Argent Skull
A shotgun-like Nocturnal Arm that throws three skulls as finite ammo you must retrieve, with a Special that dashes and recovers them.
The Argent Skull is the most distinctive of the Nocturnal Arms. It works like a shotgun built from three skulls: you throw them at close range for a heavy spread of damage, but they are finite ammo, so once all three are out you have to retrieve them before you can fire again. That retrieval loop is the whole skill of the weapon, a rhythm of throw, close, recover, repeat, and the Special is built to help: it dashes Melinoë forward and gathers the skulls back. It hits hard up close and rewards players who like managing a resource mid-fight. You unlock it with one Bronze and two Glassrock; Bronze comes from the City of Ephyra on the surface, and Glassrock from the Fields of Mourning, so the unlock waits on later regions.
How it plays
The standard Attack throws skulls for a shotgun-style burst at short range, and you can launch up to three before you are out. The standard Special dashes forward and retrieves thrown skulls, which doubles as a mobility and reload move in one. The Omega Attack spends Magick to throw a charged, heavier skull volley, and the Omega Special extends the dash-and-recover. The core loop is managing your three-skull ammo: throw the burst into a tight cluster, then Special-dash through to pick them back up. Magick refills on entering the next room, so spend the Omega throws inside a fight, but never empty your ammo into a crowd you cannot then dash through to recover.
Track your three skulls like a clip. Fire the burst point-blank for maximum damage, then immediately Special-dash to retrieve before you need to fire again. Running dry with no safe retrieval path is the only way the Argent Skull lets you down.
Its Aspects
The Argent Skull has several Aspects, bought with materials and leveled with Nightmare. At the archetype level they bend the throw-and-retrieve loop in different directions: one rewards the base shotgun burst, others reshape the Special dash or the Omega volley so the weapon favors burst, mobility, or ammo economy. Because the retrieval rhythm defines the weapon, Aspects that ease ammo recovery change how aggressive you can be. Boon pairings
A close-range burst weapon wants statuses that load a lot of damage onto each shot. How to start with it
Gather one Bronze from the City of Ephyra and two Glassrock from the Fields of Mourning, then unlock the Skull at the Cauldron. The retrieval loop takes practice, so start in easier runs: throw point-blank, Special-dash to recover, and pick a status that maximizes each burst. Spend Magick on Omega throws since it refills each room. As you earn Nightmare from the Oath of the Unseen, level your chosen Aspect. Plan the Bronze and Glassrock gathering through the gathering loop, since both come from specific regions.
