Weak Build (Aphrodite)
A defensive engine built on Aphrodite. Weak lowers enemy damage and Charm turns foes against each other, so rooms get easier as you stack the status.
At a glance
| Status | Weak (Aphrodite): reduces enemy damage. Aphrodite also brings Charm and survivability. |
| Comes online | As soon as you have an Aphrodite boon applying Weak, then a damage boon to finish foes. |
| Core boon | Aphrodite Attack or Special applying Weak, plus survivability boons. |
| Good weapons | Witch’s Staff and Moonstone Axe for room clear. |
What this build is
Aphrodite’s Weak lowers the damage enemies deal, so the longer a fight runs, the safer it gets. Charm can turn foes against each other for crowd control. This is the forgiving, defensive engine: you are not racing a damage timer, you are making rooms survivable while a secondary damage source cleans up. Good for learning fights and for high difficulty.
Gods and boons to prioritize
| Priority | God | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Core | Aphrodite (Weak) | Apply Weak on Attack or Special. It is your defense. |
| Crowd control | Aphrodite (Charm) | Charmed enemies fight for you and stop hitting you. |
| Damage finish | Hestia (Scorch) or Zeus (Blitz) | A secondary status to actually kill, since Weak is mitigation, not damage. |
| Defense | Athena (deflect) | Stacks with Weak for very safe ranged rooms. |
An Aphrodite Duo that adds a damage or crowd-control layer is worth taking. Exact names shift with patches, so take the archetype: a Duo that turns your Weak or Charm into extra damage.
Daedalus Hammer to look for
Take the Hammer that spreads your attack to more enemies, so you apply Weak across a room rather than to one target. Wider application means more mitigation at once.
Arcana Cards note
Favor cards that raise survivability, max health, and boon rarity. See Arcana Cards.
Keepsake and Hex
- Keepsake: the Keepsake that boosts Aphrodite’s appearance, to secure Weak early.
- Selene Hex: a slow or crowd-control Hex that pairs with Charm to neutralize a room. See Selene and Hexes.
Do this in order
- Take the Aphrodite boon that applies Weak on your main hit.
- Add a secondary damage status (Scorch or Blitz) so you can finish enemies.
- Apply Weak broadly across a room before committing to a target.
- Use Charm and your Hex to split enemy attention.
- Add Athena deflect for ranged rooms.
- Stay patient. The build wins by attrition, not burst.
Watch out for
- Running Weak with no real damage source. It mitigates, it does not kill.
- Forgetting to reapply Weak as it expires.
- Overcommitting on offense and dropping your defensive layer.
Tier and “strong” claims shift with balance patches.
