Top tips

  1. Watch the Shroud timer. Entering the fog starts a countdown; if it runs out inside, you die and respawn at your altar. Raising Flame level extends it.
  2. Rescue the core five craftsmen early, mostly in the Springlands. They unlock nearly all meaningful crafting, and you can grab them in any order.
  3. Upgrade the Flame Altar as soon as you have the required boss head and materials. It gates both your power and access to the next region.
  4. Keep three food buffs active. Food is your main stat lever, not a hunger bar to babysit.
  5. Build for Comfort early. Furniture and decor raise a Comfort score that extends the Rested buff for more stamina.
  6. Do not overspend stamina in combat. Being caught mid-dodge with an empty bar is how basic enemies punish you.
  7. Respec freely. The tree resets and refunds points on first Update 8 load, so experiment with archetypes.
  8. Do not hard-skip regions. You can wander ahead, but Flame gates tied to region quests lock you out of mid-tier crafting until you back-fill.
  9. Upgrade the grappling hook with Shroud Cores and use the glider for traversal.
  10. Match tactics to the boss. Most giants are safest from behind or kited; stun-gated bosses need Chain Lightning or Stun Arrows.

Guides

builds

  • Melee Build (Warrior) quick

The red Warrior line. Big single-target and AOE damage with on-hit healing, built around the Update 8 heavy-attack burst window.

  • Ranged Build (Ranger) quick

The green Ranger line. Strong all-round damage, mobility, and safety, leaning on stacked damage multipliers. Reworked but still strong in Update 8.

  • Mage Build (Wizard) quick

The blue Wizard line. Elemental spellcasting via wands and staves. The Battlemage hybrid is the most-recommended all-rounder in the Update 8 meta.
