Act and Pinnacle Bosses

The notable act bosses on the campaign path and the endgame pinnacle bosses of the current Atlas, as confirmed by the 0.5 build.

Bosses in Path of Exile 2 mark the end of each act and the top of the endgame. The act bosses gate your campaign progress and, in a couple of cases, your Ascendancy. The pinnacle bosses in the Atlas are the endgame reward chase, tied to the current progression arc. This page lists the encounters the current Early Access build confirms. The version described is Content Update 0.5.x “Return of the Ancients.” Boss names are version-sensitive, so treat specific names as current to 0.5 and verify against the live game.

Names change between patches. The single canonical Act 1 finale boss in 0.5 and the complete current pinnacle boss roster are unconfirmed. Anything below flagged as unconfirmed should be checked before you rely on it.

Act 1 bosses

Act 1 ends with an act-ending boss on the coastal and forest path. “The Miller” is cited as a gatekeeper boss at The Riverbank in Act 1, though it is unconfirmed as the single act 1 finale in 0.5. Expect the same lesson every act boss teaches: PoE 2 combat is deliberate and hits hard, so cap your resistances and bring a solid Life or Energy Shield pool before you engage.

Act 2 bosses

Act 2 has the fullest confirmed boss list, and one of them ties directly to your Ascendancy.

Balbala is the one to note: this fight sits with the first Trial and your Ascendancy unlock, so do not skip past it.

Act 3 bosses

Act 3 runs through jungle and wetlands to a thaumaturgy-themed finale.

Doryani is the act 3 climax. Around this act you also gain access to the Trial of Chaos for your third and fourth Ascendancy points.

Pinnacle bosses in the Atlas

Once you are in the endgame, the pinnacle bosses become the reward chase. In 0.5 the pinnacle picture was reworked around the Origins of Divinity arc.

  • Arbiter of Divinity is the new main pinnacle boss of the 0.5 Atlas route, tied to the Origins of Divinity arc. Repeated Arbiter of Divinity kills are cited as the fastest route to Atlas passive points, with five kills cited for a full Fortress run.
  • Arbiter of Ash was the prior main Atlas pinnacle boss. It remains part of the Fortress route in 0.5 but is no longer the single core pinnacle target.

Other endgame and pinnacle encounters from earlier patches may remain reachable through Atlas mechanics, but the full current pinnacle roster in 0.5 is unconfirmed.

How to approach any of them

The advice is consistent across act and pinnacle fights. Cap fire, cold, and lightning resistance, because campaign progress applies resistance penalties and uncapped resistances are the most common cause of dying. Do not neglect Life, and Energy Shield if your build uses it. Bring the survivability layers your build supports: Armour reduces physical hits, Evasion avoids attacks, and Energy Shield buffers like extra Life. Learn each boss’s tells and punish after its attacks rather than trading blindly.
